YOU ARE NOT ALONE is a peer led youth suicide prevention outreach with a focus on early intervention. YANA includes wristbands with the Careline number for youth to wear and give to those who may be struggling, an evidence based suicide prevention class, the option for youth to become class presenters and start a You Are Not Alone Club at their school. YANA events have been brought to school across Alaska: Anchorage, Eagle River, Wasilla, Palmer, Houston, Juneau, Haines, Kodiak, Kotzebue, Nome, Mountain Village, and more. We teach appropriate suicide prevention skills for youth, train high school students to present suicide prevention information, promote the Alaska Careline number, and help establish suicide prevention clubs where youth can connect and support each other.
One very special aspect of the program is the wide reaching community support and encouragement it has received. YOU ARE NOT ALONE would not be the success it is without the generous contributions made from many groups and individuals.
